Willy Wonka Feb 17-20

GJHS students truly took on a challenge. Willy Wonka the musical. What an extraordinary experience for the audience, amusing delight for the cast, and a huge amount of pain and sleepless nights for the Tech Crew. I, Jackie Wyer, was apart of the Tech Crew. The main crew consisted of around 6 people who built the sets and spent many, many late nights at GJHS fixing problems, making things safe, and working continuously. The average time the crew went home was around 1 A.M.

Although there were tons of struggles and stress building up to a few snappy arguments, the end result was fantastic. The Techs did tons of work so the actors could be adored! Well...maybe not, but nonetheless the play was a huge hit. Many audiences gave standing ovations for all the hard work and magical wonders we created! The props were outstanding and colorful, along with the lobby which advertised the play and Enstrom's Chocolate. Enstroms helped sponsor all our hard work and even made a special batch of toffee with an actual golden ticket hidden inside one of the packages. The winner would win a year's supply of chocolate from Enstroms! It truly was fantastic!

All of the techies had various jobs behind stage. I would help move props when needed, but my main job was the 1st traveler, which was the curtain behind the main. Now, the problem with this traveler was it was extremely heavy and hard to move. In the play, the traveler needed to be opened and closed various times and fairly fast. I tried using gloves so I wouldn't hurt my hands, but they would slip on the rope and then the traveler wouldn't open fast enough. So I had to use my bare hands. I succeeded most of the time, though Kyle would help me with one scene since I didn't have the strength to do it fast enough. In the end, my hands had 7 blisters, and it was definately painful, but I don't mind too much. It was somewhat worth it! I wish we had a "I Survived Wonka 2010" shirt, but we didn't get one! That's ok. The main problem that I had with the musical was, since I put so much of my life into it, I got really behind in my classes! So, of course, my grades went down. Other than that, it was definately a different experience!

School- Spring 2010

Alright so I've been struggling in school for a while. Thanks to Willy Wonka I had gotten really behind in my homework. Anyways, I, for the first time, had Cs on my report card! Horrible I know! But that was quarter 3. This is now quarter 4 and I'm getting back on track. I'm starting to put more effort and care into my work again. I hope those Cs will go away, but I kind of screwed myself over taking on the musical and AP classes! Well, that's how you learn right?

I took an ACT practice exam last week. It was the first time I took the ACT test and I recieved a 23. Not bad, but not awesome. Then again, I didn't finish the math section. So I need to work on time management for that part. The teacher said the higher 20s will open doors. So a few days during the week, after school, I'll be going in to practice on the problems I missed and such to hopefully help get a higher grade. I hope I do! Kind of scary.

Tutoring at the Riverside Educational Center has been going well. I love tutoring the kids. It always brightens my day. I currently have over 50 hours of volunteer hours from working there. I really want to recieve 111 hours so I can be in the millenium club or what-ever it's called at our school! Sadly, my parents want me to quit tutoring so I can focus more on school. I understand that argument, but I love tutoring the kids! They help brighten my depressive days! Oh well. I just need them to sign my hour sheet then I have to leave soon :(.

Dream Journal

Wow I found my dream journal that I used over the summer! Of course most of the dreams were about him...but it was nice reading the dreams I've had. It is really cool. I do analysis and everything haha. Gosh I miss him, it sucks how the paths in peoples' lives change and go off from one another. If only lol. I want to continue my dream journal, it has been a long time. Hopefully I will start remebering my dreams more!

Dane Cook

My my...how i would love to have a man like Dane Cook, almost..like..pretty much exactly like Dane Cook. Sigh. Truly truly amazing, he has that special kind of humor to him that makes me fall everytime and when hes caring about real things when not joking...agh i love it! If only... lol

Bad Signs

So, I am worried something big and bad is going to happen soon. I am really worried for friends of mine right now. One friend of mine is dying of lung cancer and we don't know how long he has left to live, it's already been 6 months since he's been diagnosed. My other friend, and neighbor, is getting kicked out of his house because his parents are a$$holes. They are always so mean to him and don't care. Now they are kicking him out without reason. I've noticed they are extremely selfish and it makes me so mad that they don't treat him well. He is so amazing, and funny and cute and a great person and never does anything bad. Those parents need to be slapped. I hope tomorrow I don't find out more bad news because yesterday is when I found out about the lung cancer, and today was the news about my friend getting kicked out of the house. This makes me so sad and always makes me take a step back to observe life and be like...wow..this is life..how horrible. I am really worried. Prayers be with them, I hope I can help anyway I can.

Homecoming 2009!

So I totally forgot to make a post about this! I went to Homecoming for the 2nd time (first was freshman year, not good). I went with Alek (date), Kati, Jill, Eddie, Wesley, Nathan, Bailey, Kierra, and Wesley! We took pics at Kati's house then drove to Bostons for dinner. Good food :). Then we were driving to the school I was pulled over for my tailight!! Crazy. Then we partied it up, went to Kati's house and watched Tarzan annndd that was it. But it was sooo much fun. I'm a dancing fool :]
